The Crown Chakra
Called sahasrara(1) in Hinduism, the seventh chakra or energy center of the human being (of seven) is the crown chakra. The master chakra that controls all the others, the crown chakra opens upwards from the top of the head to spill out its light and energy.
Your crown chakra is the most challenging to full awaken out of all seven chakras. The crown is the most important and entryway to the higher realms.
The skull obviously houses your pituitary and pineal glands and your crown and third eye chakras. It’s crucial you keep your skull and brain protected from physical injury because your seventh crown chakra works with your sixth third eye chakra to receive Divine revelation from the higher realms. In order for them to work harmoniously and properly neither can be damaged and both should be well cared for.
When you’re in your heart and listening to the guidance of your soul, your crown chakra will work with your third eye chakra (associated with with the pineal gland). They will circulate Light and information between each other and create a beautiful harmonic of communication for Divine revelation.
The crown chakra links to the major endocrine gland—the pituitary gland.
The pituitary is master gland of the body located at the base of the brain.
The pituitary gland directly affects the part of your brain you use the most—the frontal lobe. It also turns on all the other glands as appropriate and in a cascade effect.
For example, the pituitary secretes specific hormones that turn on the pineal gland (at the sixth chakra). The pineal then secretes its hormones to active various neurotransmitters to turn on all the other glands down through the body.
We identify the pituitary with ultra-consciousness.
The colors we associate with the crown chakra are lavender, white and gold.
White is the blending of all the seven colors of the chakras (and rainbow).
Lavender aligns with full self-realization.
Golden light is the royal light of enlightenment.
The crown chakra’s sensorial function rules all the senses including innate knowing beyond intuition.
Hindu and buddhist philosophy link the crown chakra with the thousand petaled lotus.(1)
The thousand petaled lotus is a metaphor for the complete enlightenment that happens when the kundalini energy rises from the root chakra and travels up the spine, through the cerebellum and mid-brain and out the crown chakra.
When you nourish your crown chakra and indirectly, your pituitary gland with the high frequency of a well crafted chakra oil, it goes to work to help your crown chakra open like a beautiful flower.
The crown chakra embodies a fundamental principle: All Is One
With full activation of the crown chakra and complete enlightenment you are fully awakened to understand this most profound truth undergirding Creation.
The full activated crown chakra helps you realize that all things and people are one. You no longer perceive duality—right or wrong, good or bad. You know and feel only harmony. Oneness is the realization of Love-Light, Love-Light, and the Infinite Creator.
We associate the brain to the crown chakra.
The control tower of the human body is the brain, designed to receive every frequency of unlimited thought. The brain is your hidden door to knowing and realizing all.
Purpose and function of the Crown Chakra
Like the colorless light that combines all colors of the visible spectrum of sunlight, the seventh crown chakra combines all the energies of the six lower chakras.
The crown chakra harmoniously integrates the activities of all the other six chakras.
Your crown chakra functions as seat of supreme accomplishment.
Masterpiece works of art depict the open and activated crown chakra as a halo floating over the head.
When you begin opening the crown chakra, you’ll find you can go beyond what you once understood intellectually and intuitively.
Now you fully perceive everything with perfect and holistic comprehension. This is a supreme accomplishment.
You will see the full picture in which subject and object of your perception were never separated after all. This is the realization that All Is One.
A completely open crown chakra, which results from applied spiritual development, can absorb cosmic energies.
We play an active role in the opening of the other six chakras and it’s not terribly difficult. But to open the crown chakra, you must work at being receptive and open especially during the years of greatest natural crown chakra activity—ages 43 to 49.
Harmonious Crown Chakra
Strictly speaking, the crown chakra energy and light do not get blocked. The more you enforce awareness of crown chakra activity, the more it opens.
With a fully open crown chakra you’ll feel no separation between your inner being and your external life. Your consciousness will be fully content with itself.
You’ll acquire a plethora of knowledge, experience and ability as you often do but you’re able to translate it all in perfection.
You’ll feel omnipresence within yourself. And you will most intimately know your Divine Essence.
Dysfunctional Crown Chakra
If you don’t create awareness of your crown chakra energies, you’ll continue to feel a sense of separation as almost everyone does.
If you don’t allow your crown chakra to open you’ll hinder the optimal opening and function of the other six chakras. The other chakras simply will not realize their potential and become unable to harmoniously vibrate with each other.
